Sandra Bullock announced this morning she is a mom again!

“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,”; the Oscar winner exclusively told PEOPLE magazine of her 3-year-old daughter Laila.

“I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time,”; she added. Bullock had previously shot down a reporter during a junket for her latest film “Our Brand Is Crisis”; after she was asked if she was adopting again. Watch below.

Adopting her son Louis, 5, in 2010, Bullock reveals how he was a big part of  the process of expanding her family.

“Louis spearheaded this whole journey,”; the actress tells the magazine who explained the first stages of bringing Laila home.

“I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere,”; she says of her new little girl.

Bullock fostered Laila before adopting her and feared the adoption process would be jeopardized by her fame, telling the magazine that the process felt like “witness protection.”;

“I had promised and legally agreed to protect her,”; Bullock says adding that a scary trip to the emergency room proved even scarier after “a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us in the line.”;

“The next day I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world,”; Bullock says. “I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers – begging them to keep her safe.”;

“Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances – and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job,”; she says.

Introducing the world to the little girl who brought “pink and glitter into the house mixed with Legos and Batman,”; Bullock hopes to shine a light on the 415,129 children currently in foster care in the U.S. “My family is blended and diverse, nutty and loving and understanding. That’s a family.”;

Roz Weston got a chance to chat about family with Sandra during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where she divulged all she did was cry when she sent Louis to Kindergarten for the first time. Watch the video below.
