Jimmy Eat World drummer Zach Lind took to Twitter on Friday to offer the band’s fans a history lesson about the band’s memorable but offbeat name.

Tweeting from the band’s verified Twitter account, Lind jokingly advised new bands, that, when coming up with a name, “make sure its acronym displayed really large on your artwork or t shirts won’t be complicating matters,” he wrote, jesting about the word spelled by the first letters of Jimmy Eat World.

Next, Lind (who identified himself as the band member doing the tweeting) took fans on a history lesson about the band’s early days and how they wound up calling themselves Jimmy Eat World.

In his final tweet, Lind points out that the band doesn’t regret its choice of name, but admits in retrospect, “I often wish we would have deliberated a bit more” whenever it’s time to design Jimmy Eat World merchandise or band artwork.
