Get ready to return to the Eastland School for girls, with news that negotiations are under way to reboot beloved 1980s sitcom “The Facts of Life”.
A spinoff of NBC hit “Diff’rent Strokes”, “The Facts of Life” followed former Drummond family housekeeper Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae) in her new role as housemother at the fictional all-girls boarding school, where she mentored a group of girls including spoiled Blair (Lisa Whelchel), streetwise Jo (Nancy McKeon), roller-skating Tootie (Kim Fields) and wisecracking Natalie (Natalie Cohn).
According to Deadline, Sony TV is in talks with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and Jessica Biel’s Iron Ocean Films to produce the reboot, which is reportedly searching for a writer.
Sony declined to comment on the rumoured reboot, which would be the latest in a string of old shows made new, a lengthy list that includes “Roseanne”, “Will & Grace”, “Gilmore Girls” and CBS’s upcoming reboots of “Magnum P.I.” and “Murphy Brown”.
