A spokesperson for Angelina Jolie is refuting reports that the actress is parting ways with her attorney during a crucial juncture in her custody battle with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
A report from TMZ claimed that the 43-year-old actress is fighting Pitt “so hard and nasty” that her lawyer, Laura Wasser, is ready to quit.
“She’s fuelled with anger and has gotten ridiculously unreasonable,” a source reportedly told TMZ of the mother of six.
However, Jolie’s rep insists that there’s no truth to TMZ’s story. “I’ve spoken directly to Laura,” Jolie’s spokesperson, Mindy Nyby, tells People. “The TMZ story is not true. She’s not quitting now or in the future.”
In fact, “a source close to the situation” tells People that “the characterization of problems between Laura and Angie is not true.”
TMZ’s claim that Jolie is hiring another law firm, however, is actually true — but a source explains that’s perfectly normal under the particular circumstances, and doesn’t mean that Jolie and Wasser are parting ways.
“Someone is misinterpreting bringing in the experts, which is common at this point in the case,” an insider explains, adding that the ex-couple’s legal battle is “entering a new phase.”
