Angelina Jolie has accused Brad Pitt of not paying any “meaningful” child support for a year and a half, it’s been reported.
According to NBC News, 43-year-old Jolie made the accusations in a court filing Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by NBC.
Jolie’s attorney, Samantha Bley DeJean, stated: “[Pitt] has a duty to pay child support. As of present, [Pitt] has paid no meaningful child support since separation.
“Given the informal arrangements around the payment of the children’s expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file an RFO [request for court order] for the establishment of a retroactive child support order.”
A spokesperson for Jolie told ET Canada, “The aim of Angelina’s routine court filing is to provide closure to the marriage in a way that clears a path toward the next stage of their lives and allows her and Brad to recommit as devoted co-parents to their children.”
ET Canada has reached out to Pitt’s rep for further comments.
Jolie and Pitt, 54, announced their split in September 2016. It’s not been made clear what agreement they previously reached, if any, regarding child support.
The latest news comes after a spokesperson for the actress slammed reports suggesting she was parting ways with her attorney during a crucial juncture in her custody battle.
A TMZ report previously claimed Jolie was fighting Pitt “so hard and nasty” that her lawyer, Laura Wasser, was ready to quit.
However, the star’s rep has since told People: “I’ve spoken directly to Laura. The TMZ story is not true. She’s not quitting now or in the future.”
