Time magazine has made its annual selection for its Person of the Year, and a certain bombastic billionaire presidential candidate is none-too-thrilled the mag chose German Chancellor Angela Merkel for this year’s honour.

In his usual manner, the former Celebrity Apprentice host took to Twitter to take a swipe at Time for not choosing him as 2015’s Person of the Year and selecting the “person who is ruining Germany.”;

Time Managing Editor Nancy Gibbs appeared on this morning’s Today Show and explained why Trump landed in third place. “All year long he has been saying things that were counted as disqualifying — I’ve lost count how many times,”; said Gibbs. “If he is as good at winning votes as he is at winning news cycles, then in the months to come he may well position himself that we may be here a year from now.”;

Also, notes Gibbs, “n the history of Person of the Year, we’ve actually never named a presidential candidate as Person of the Year,”; but added that Trump has a shot at making it on the cover of next year’s issue. “If he thinks he deserves it, he has the whole next year to let the voters decide that.”;
