Cate Blanchett Drops F-Bomb During AACTA Awards Acceptance Speech

By Chantilly Post, .

A teary-eyed Cate Blanchett took the stage at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, where she was the recipient of the Longford Lyell Award for outstanding contribution to Australian screen. Clearly overcome with emotion during her speech, the Carol actress was apparently so overcome that she accidentally dropped a big ol’ F-bomb.

“Oh I’ve become one of those ridiculous people who cries, “It’s just a f***ing award,'”; Blanchett, 46, said as the crowd gave her a standing ovation at the ceremony held in Sydney where she was honoured by actors Richard Roxburgh and Hugo Weaving.

She also used her throne to call for more Australian actors to the screen, and shared her approval for the movie industry moving towards having 50/50 gender equity in upcoming Australian projects.
