Lance Armstrong was taken to hospital Wednesday after he was thrown off his bike in Colorado.

The 46-year-old took to Instagram after the accident to share a photo of his bloodied face, admitting that “sometimes you’re the hammer and sometimes you’re the nail.”

The biker was riding on the Tom Blake dirt trail in Snowmass Village in Aspen when he fell. He later confirmed that he’d “swung by the Aspen Valley Hospital” to get checked out.

Armstrong said that his younger self wouldn’t have bothered getting his injuries looked at but he clearly takes his health much more seriously these days.

The sportsman was immediately bombarded with fans sending well wishes, with many saying they were just “glad it wasn’t worse.”
