A crew of vandals retaliated against the recent destruction and decision to remove Donald Trump’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame by pasting multiple fake Trump stars on empty Walk spaces.
A crew calling themselves The Faction took credit for the act on Twitter, sharing video of the fake stars and threatening more to come should Trump’s official star be removed.
“Take down his star, and we will descend upon you with 30 fresh new stars,” The Faction tweeted.
A recent vote by the West Hollywood City Council recommended the official removal of Trump’s star from the Walk of Fame, though The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Los Angeles City Council have not yet weighed in on the proposal.
Last month, another vandal demolished Trump’s star with a pickaxe. He was later bailed out of jail by another man who had done the same thing two years earlier.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, while The Faction worked to place the vinyl laminate Trump stars on the Walk, they made sure to keep the U.S. president’s name covered so as not to raise the ire of onlookers.
“I didn’t want to get hit over the head from behind. We thought Trump Derangement Syndrome was a joke, but I’m pretty sure it’s real,” the artist told THR. “If no one peels these off, they could last there for 10 years.”
