Taylor Lautner is expressing his gratitude after his sister successfully underwent heart surgery on Friday, revealing it to be the second surgery.
“2nd heart procedure is finally a MASSIVE success. Couldn’t possibly look up to this little/not so little girl any more,” the “Twilight” star wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of his 20-year-old sister Makena at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles following the successful surgical procedure.
“You are much braver than I @makenalautner.. Love you so,” added the actor, 26.
Makena also took to Instagram to reveal the surgery had been “a huge success! It couldn’t have gone any better. God answered 3 years of prayers today more than any of us could have ever dreamt of.”
Late last year, Makena revealed via Instagram that she has tachycardia, a condition she describes as causing “her heart rate to go over 300+ bpm.”
I believe everyone has a story to tell and today I feel called to share mine. For those who don't know, I tore my ACL and meniscus for the 2nd time on the opposite leg this past semester. I was playing volleyball and when I came down on my left leg I immediately knew something wasn’t right. Ironically, the original purpose of playing that day was to catch my heart condition on a heart monitor (I have tachycardia, which means my heart rate goes over 300+ bpm). Tearing your ACL is one of the most gruesome and long lasting recoveries, I am 2 months out of surgery and am just now able to walk around at a normal pace. Though it has been a painful 2 months, I've seen so much growth in the person I am and have a new outlook on life. I have learned to live everyday graciously and have met so many amazing people because of it. I am thankful everyday that it didn't end up worse, because some people aren't so lucky. If you want to hear my full story on my journey to recovery after my first ACL tear, you can go watch my TEDx talk and the link in my bio! If you have the chance to share your story I encourage you to, you never know who it may help.
