Lights Forced To Take Down Covers Of New Drake Album From Streaming Sites

Singer Lights paid tribute to her fellow Canadian Drake last week with a set of covers from his new album Scorpion, but it seems the fun couldn’t last.

The 13 songs, including her takes on “Nice For What” and “In My Feelings”, make up the B-side of the Scorpion album.

Sadly, on Tuesday, Lights revealed that the “higher ups” had forced her to take the songs off streaming sites despite her best efforts.

Lights also responded to several fans, who had questions about the project:

“I’ve been daring myself to cover an entire Drake album for a couple years, and with Scorpion it was now or never,” Lights said last week in a statement when the cover album was released. “I gave myself the first two weeks of its release to track a cover album I would be proud of and damn did I have fun. It was melodic and emotional and full of bad words, everything I’d hoped for, twisted into intimate acoustic versions. By the time I was finished I wanted the whole world to hear it. Stoked to get this on streaming platforms so people can get even sadder.”
