The first trailer for “Roma”, the new semi-autobiographical film from Academy Award-winning director Alfonso Cuaron has arrived online.
Making it’s Canadian premiere at TIFF next month, “Roma” is set in Cuaron’s hometown of Mexico City in the early 1970s. The black and white drama follows the lives of three women through a year of upheaval. With social hierarchy and race influencing their daily routine at home, the country at large prepares for a confrontation between student protesters and government militia.

“Gravity” and “Children Of Men” director Cuaron’s ode to “the matriarchy that shaped his world” was inspired by the women of his childhood, according to a press release.
“Roma” will have it’s world premiere at the Venice Film Festival before playing TIFF. The film will land on Netflix later this year.
