Italian actress Sophia Loren has become the latest celebrity to speak out about the #MeToo movement, admitting she was lucky to have met her late husband, Carlo Ponti, when she did.

The 83-year-old issued a warning to young stars, urging them to “get to know the right people.”

Loren told London’s Evening Standard: “It’s very difficult to talk about this [scandal] and it does give me the chills thinking about it.

“When you find yourself in a difficult position you just have to go on and don’t trust the people that you shouldn’t.”

Loren added of Ponti, according to the Daily Mail: “Maybe I was lucky to have met the right person at the right time. My life has been very serene.”

The actress married the film producer, who passed away in 2007, in 1966.

Loren’s comments come after Lindsay Lohan was slammed over quotes she gave to The Times about the #MeToo movement.

The star, who has since apologized, said: “If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment. You make it a real thing by making it a police report.

“I’m going to really hate myself for saying this but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women. You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention. That is taking away from the fact that it happened.”
