Ivanka Trump does not like being the butt of a joke and apparently hates “Saturday Night Live” as much as her father, Donald Trump.
According to a passage in Omarosa Manigault-Newman’s new book, the 36-year-old daughter of the U.S. President did not take kindly to the “Complicit” skit which aired on the late-night sketch show in March 2017.
Scarlett Johansson played Ivanka in the spoof perfume ad for a faux-fragrance called Complicit. “She’s a woman who knows what she wants – and knows what she’s doing,” the sultry voiceover said. “She’s a feminist. An advocate. A champion for women. But, like, how?”
Manigault-Newman details Ivanka’s reaction to the sketch in her book, Unhinged, claiming that she “would not stop bemoaning” it.
“At the senior staff meeting, Ivanka couldn’t stop bemoaning it, how offensive it was, how ridiculous it was,” she writes, according to People. “We’d all been subject to S.N.L. attacks… We’d all been hit, many of us in that same week’s show.”
“But Ivanka would not stop talking about being ribbed. Like her father, Ivanka was thin-skinned and could not seem to take a joke.”
Not long after the sketch aired, Ivanka appeared on CBS’ “This Morning” to address those who said she was “complicit” in her father’s political agenda. “If being complicit is wanting to be a force for good and to make a positive impact, then I’m complicit,” she said.
“I don’t know what it means to be complicit, but you know, I hope time will prove that I have done a good job and much more importantly that my father’s administration is the success that I know it will be.”
Manigault-Newman, who was fired from her job as White House aid last December, went on to write that “[Donald] wanted Jared and Ivanka out of the White House. It hurt him when people attacked her. They were doing it to get to him, and it was working.”
