Drama continues to surround Kesha’s lengthy legal battle against her former producer Dr. Luke.
According to The Blast, Katy Perry has reportedly requested to have her testimony sealed by a judge. The 33-year-old singer-songwriter – and former Dr. Luke collaborator – believes that should her deposition become public, it could be damaging to her “career and reputation.”
Perry is arguing that while she agreed to testify as part of the ongoing legal proceedings, “her testimony (certainly at this stage) appears to be, at most, tangential to the case.”
Although the 46-page deposition transcript is said to contain no relevant information directly related to the case, Dr. Luke’s lawyers warned the pop star that its contents could be “unsealed this week.”
Perry filed legal documents in order to keep her testimony out of the hands of “gossip column[s]” who she fears will “exaggerat[e] salacious matters having little to nothing to do with the merits – whatever they may be – of the substantive, material issues in this case.”
There has been no ruling at this time.
