Today marks Kate Middleton’s first day as a representative for the military, handed on to her by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Philip, 94, is handing over his military patronages to Middleton, 33, whose husband Prince William represented until September 2013.
Her official title is the Honourary Air Commandant of the Air Cadet Organization, which is her “first role with an official link to the military,”; a Buckingham Palace rep says.
Her new title was given to her by Prince Philip himself during a Royal lunch held at the Buckingham Palace hosted by Queen Elizabeth on Wednesday.
