Talk about a fiery and personal performance.
Fifteen-year-old “America’s Got Talent” contestant Makayla Phillips performed a tribute to her father, whom she described as her hero.

“My dad is absolutely my hero because he’s a firefighter,” she told the audience and judges. “His job is so incredibly tough, there have been days where I’ve been scared my dad won’t come home. I feel more pressure I just want to make my family proud.”
Phillips, who had received a golden buzzer from judge Heidi Klum earlier in the evening, sang Julia Michaels’ hit song “Issues”.

Afterward, the teen broke down in tears as the camera panned to her father in attendance in Los Angeles.
The judges sang Phillips’ praise. Klum said, “It was better than the original, this is really where you belong.”
Cowell chimed in, “This was way better than your first audition, you sang that song really well.”
