The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” judge, who was one of the original Fab Five on Bravo’s “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” in 2003, explained to People that he meant no disrespect to the “Queer Eye” reboot at all.
“I loved being a part of the original ‘Queer Eye’, and I love the reboot,” he said. “When I said the original was more groundbreaking it only meant that the original aired in an era when there was far less representation of gay people on television.”
Kressley added: “We have come a long way and I am very proud to have passed the torch to the wonderful and talented new cast.”

The 48-year-old was asked about the Emmy nominations for the new “Queer Eye” earlier this week.
“I’m thrilled that they’re nominated,” Kressley told Variety at a Television Academy event to celebrate the Emmys’ 70th anniversary on Monday. “But it was a little more groundbreaking back when we won an Emmy in 2004.”
Many originally interpreted the comment has throwing shade on the reboot.
