Recreational marijuana will officially become legal in Canada on October 17 and Chelsea Handler is heading to the Great White North to talk about toking.
The 43-year-old comedian, who is a well-known advocate for cannabis use, will be holding a series of talks across the country in partnership with Civilized, a New Brunswick-based media company that supports cannabis culture.

Derek Riedle, CEO and publisher at Civilized, will moderate the “live town hall events” in which Handler will talk about marijuana, politics, and culture, and encourage the audience “to stand up, speak out, and be heard.”
Following the cancellation of her self-titled Netflix series, Handler set out on a U.S. speaking tour, and earlier this year, she was the keynote speaker at the invitation-only World Cannabis Congress in Saint John, N.B.
Her Canadian show, titled “A Civilized Conversation With Chelsea Handler”, will kick off in Calgary on September 20 before moving onto Vancouver (Sept. 21) and Winnipeg (Sept. 22).
Handler will also make stops in Montreal (Oct. 4), Ottawa (Oct. 5), Toronto (Oct. 6) and Halifax (Oct. 7).
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed the start date of recreational marijuana legalization back in June during question period in the House of Commons.
