Nick Jonas is back with new music and the lyrics may or may not be dedicated to his fiancée Priyanka Chopra.
The 25-year-old singer has joined forces with German producer Robin Schulz for his upbeat, club-ready new single “Right Now”, which he dropped Friday.
It’s the first song Jonas has released since the announcement of his engagement to Chopra this past weekend. The couple made their engagement official after taking part in a Roka ceremony in India.
“Right now, you know I miss your body / So I won’t kiss nobody until you come back home / And I swear, the next time that I hold you / I won’t let you go nowhere / You’ll never be alone, I’ll never let you go,” Jonas sings in the chorus, perhaps directed to the Bollywood actress.
Jonas previously told Teen Vogue: “It’s a song with Robin Schulz, which I’m really excited about called ‘Right Now’ that I wrote with Skylar Grey. It’s a song that I’ve been sitting on for a while but I was looking for the right time to put it out and the right person to collaborate with.”
The new song marks Jonas’ first big shift from pop rock to electronic dance music, and teaming with Schulz is sure to prove successful. The German DJ has produced a string of hits in recent years, including his 2015 song “Sugar”, which has racked up more than 643 million streams on Spotify.
“I’ve also been in the studio with Timbaland and TMS, which is a great production group out of the UK,” Jonas told Teen Vogue. “Some new and inspiring influences that represent the next statement I want to make as an artist.”
