It’s been a busy week for Jon Bon Jovi.  The Jersey boy took to the stage alongside other rock legends like, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, and  Eddie Vedder for the 12-12-12 concert benefiting victims of superstorm Sandy.   The day after the fundraiser, Bon Jovi received good news that he was among the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards nominees for his original song Not Running Anymore, from the gangster flick Stand Up Guys.

The film stars Christopher Walken as a career con man, who’s final hit is to take down his best friend, a fall-guy recently released from jail played by Al Pacino.  The Livin’ On A Prayer singer doesn’t stray far from the theme of his famous hit for this soundtrack. Although Bon Jovi originally started writing Not Running Anymore for his band before the production, he decided after he visited the film’s set, to adapt the track for the scene where Pacino’s character visits a confessional to absolve his sins.

Truth, honour and friendship are the themes that run throughout the dark comedy, and are also what Bon Jovi hopes listeners will take away from his song.

Stand Up Guys opens in New York and Los Angeles today and will have its Canadian wide release in the new year. Watch the song’s video, which includes scenes from the film, in the clip below.
