Adele is taking her health seriously since re-emerging into the spotlight with her record-breaking album 25.
The singer revealed her habit of smoking 25 cigarettes per day is well behind her now, admitting that the shame of dying from a smoking-related disease scared her into quitting.
“If I’d carried on smoking I’d probably have died from a smoking-related illness and I think that’s really bad,” she told The Mirror. “If I was dying from lung cancer I would have potentially given it to myself and that wouldn’t be something I’d be proud of.’
Back in 2011, the “Hello” songstress was forced to cancel shows and head into surgery. Her doctors warned of detrimental damage to her vocal cords if she ever continued her destructive habit.
“If I wasn’t a singer I would still be smoking 25-a-day. It’s my favourite thing to do,” she once said.
But her health kick hasn’t stopped there. Adele has also started hitting the gym and now leads a much healthier lifestyle. “[It’s] to get in shape for myself, but not to be a size zero or anything like that,” she told Rolling Stone. “I’m not, like, skipping to the f**king gym. I don’t enjoy it. I do like doing weights.”
