Mahershala Ali Struggles With Unsolved Case In New ‘True Detective’ Season 3 Trailer

The new “True Detective” season three trailer sets the tone for a haunting mystery starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.

Ali — the first Muslim actor to ever win an Academy Award — leads the next instalment of the popular crime drama. HBO did a good job of keeping things cryptic in a chilling teaser back in August. “I want to know the whole story,” Ali said and fans of the series surely agree.

On Friday, HBO released a new two-minute-plus trailer from the return of “True Detective”.

Ali stars as Wayne Hays in the forthcoming season of “True Detective”. Carmen Ejogo, Scoot McNairy, and Mamie Gummer also take centre stage when the show returns from its near three-and-a-half-year hiatus.

Season one of “True Detective” first aired in January 2014 with season two concluding on Aug. 9, 2015. It was not until August 2017, however, that HBO greenlit the show for a new season.

Ali will make his official debut as Hays in the show’s season premiere on Jan. 13, 2019.
