Exclusive: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row is launching menswear. It's the result of a two-year project in which they and their small team traveled the globe, inspected seams, counted stitches and pitted factories against one another. Taking a page from industrial manufacturing, they employed performance trials that they call “wear-testing”: trying the clothes themselves or asking friends and associates to borrow samples and report back. This is not new—this is how The Row works: slowly. Read the full story online now or through the link in bio. On newsstands 9/15. Despite growing up on screen, Ashley says they are still figuring out how to work together: “It’s been 32 years of learning how to communicate… [our relationship is like] a marriage and a partnership. We have had ups and downs… We do everything together.”
Mary-Kate added, “We came out of the womb doing that.”
Following their successful line of movies, the pair moved into fashion, something they are passionate about. In 2006, Mary-Kate and Ashley started their own clothing line, The Row.
What’s next for The Row? Menswear.
“It really was a passion project,” MK told the mag. “It’s not like one day we wake up and say, we’re going to grow this business, and we’re going to have a menswear collection. That’s not the way we look at it.”
“I think a men’s rise has gotten short and small,” Ashley explained. “There’s something about a slightly higher rise that is quite sexy.”
The Row’s luxury menswear line will launch in stores this October.
