Everyone’s favourite K-pop boy band BTS are encouraging fans to take part in a dance challenge in honour of their latest single “Idol”.

The new craze was born Monday when the group posted a video of band member J-Hope busting some funky moves to the upbeat jam on Twitter. J-Hope is the dancing machine of BTS and is often praised for his amazing, choreographed routines.

It didn’t take long for the #IDOLCHALLENGE to take off, with J-Hope’s video racking up 416,168 retweets and 863,268 “likes” in a matter of hours. Soon, members of the BTS A.R.M.Y. were getting in on the fun and sharing videos of their own dance routines online.

Over the weekend, “Idol” smashed the record for most viewed video within 24 hours on YouTube, receiving more than 56 million views on the day of release. The record was previously held by Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” video, which dropped during the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards and hit 43 million views in its first 24 hours.

“Idol” is the lead single from BTS’ Love Yourself: Answer album, which was released Friday.
