Lana Del Rey has made the difficult decision to postpone her concert in Israel.
The “Love” singer announced that she wouldn’t be performing at the inaugural Meteor Festival in Israel on Sept.7. The show would have marked her first-ever performance in the country.
On Friday, the Grammy-nominated singer released a statement as to why she made the decision to postpone.
“It’s important to me to perform in both Palestine and Israel and treat all my fans equally,” she said in the statement on Twitter. “Unfortunately it hasn’t been possible to line up both visits with such short notice and therefore I’m postponing my appearance at the Meteor Festival until a time when I can schedule visits for both my Israeli and Palestinian fans, as well as hopefully other countries in the region.”
A statement was also released by the Meteor Festival in Hebrew, saying: “Just got the word that Lana will be a no-show at Meteor. We do appreciate her for choosing Meteor to help her score some press attention.”

Just a couple of weeks ago, Del Rey received backlash from a number of human rights activists who didn’t approve of what was supposed to be performances in both Israel and Palestine.
“I would like to remind you that performing in Tel Aviv is not a political statement or a commitment to the politics there just like singing here in California doesn’t mean my views are in alignment w my current governments opinions or sometimes inhuman actions,” the “Born To Die” singer said in a statement following the outrage.
