Vanilla Ice was one of the passengers on board the Emirates flight from Dubai to New York that recently left over 100 people sick from a mysterious illness.
The rapper, 50, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share updates after the plane had safely landed.
“So I just landed from Dubai and now there is like tons of ambulances and fire trucks and police all over the place,” he wrote. “This is crazy. Apparently, there are over 100 people sick on the bottom floor, so happy I’m up top. It’s a double-decker plane.”
“I didn’t think it was that big of a deal,” he told reporters as he exited the aircraft, according to The Blast. “During the flight, there was a situation, they told us we would be in the middle of the runway after a 15-hour flight. They said there are some passengers that are ill so we are going to go out on the runway and hang out.”
According to TMZ, a rep for the New York City Mayor’s Office said all passengers had been evaluated a few hours after landing and “health officials are processing tests now to determine the cause.” The rep also said the “symptoms are still pointing to the flu.”
On Wednesday morning, flight 380 from Dubai to New York had to be quarantined after more than 100 passengers, of 500, fell ill. At least 10 people were taken to hospital.
