UPDATE: Wednesday, Dec. 30 (1:24 p.m. ET) – Kris Jenner has cut short her vacation in St. Bart’s in order to fly home to L.A. to be by the side of son Rob Kardashian, who was rushed to hospital yesterday and diagnosed with type-2 diabetes.

“Rob had stomach problems over the weekend and didn’t feel well. He was at the hospital briefly,”; a source tells PEOPLE. “He has to take medicine now to control his blood sugar level. He was also told he needs to rethink his whole lifestyle. He needs to see a dietician and change the way he eats. If he doesn’t change his lifestyle, he was told that it could have serious consequences.”;

The most concealed Kardashian is in a Los Angeles hospital after he felt increasingly ill over the weekend and decided to seek medical attention.

According to TMZ, Rob Kardashian, 28, was rushed to hospital after his family was worried about his condition. After examination, doctors performed tests that led them to discover Kardashian has type-2 diabetes, likely brought on by his recent weight gain.

Kardashian has struggled with his weight for years, and looked svelte when he competed on Dancing With the Stars back in 2011. Since then, however, Kardashian has become increasingly heavier; in a May episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, mom Kris revealed that her son had gained a whopping 100 pounds. “I cry myself to sleep literally every night worrying about [Rob],”; Jenner said on the show. “It’s breaking my heart.”

Sources close to the Kardashian clan say this is a wake-up call to Kardashian, which will hopefully spark a regime of healthy eating and exercise from here on out.
