Hometown hero Drake won’t be making an appearance on the TIFF red carpet after all.
The rapper was set to make an appearance at the premiere of “Monsters And Men”, a drama about a black man who is shot by police, revealing a systematic web of corruption and varying consequences. Drake is credited as an executive producer on the film, which stars “BlackKklansman” actor John David Washington and “Hamilton” actor Anthony Ramos.
Festival organizers made the announcement on Thursday.
A rep for Drake tells ET Canada: “Monsters and Men is a project very close to Drake’s heart but due to scheduling commitments on his current tour he, unfortunately, will not be unable to attend and introduce the film at TIFF. He wishes the film the utmost success and feels strongly about its ability to positively inspire dialogue”.
