UPDATE: Saturday, Jan. 2 (11:40 a.m. ET) – Michael Weatherly appeared before a judge on Tuesday to enter a plea on DUI charges after being arrested in November when cops stopped him for speeding and discovered his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.
As reported by TMZ, the NCIS star entered a plea of no contest, and will serve no jail time. Instead, Weatherly was sentenced to three years’ probation and must complete a three-month alcohol program.
Tony DiNozzo has captured hundreds of criminals on NCIS, but the shoe was on the other foot earlier this month when actor Michael Weatherly was arrested for drunk driving.
According to TMZ, Weatherly was stopped by LAPD officers for speeding at about 1 a.m. (the date of the incident isn’t yet known). Suspecting he’d had a cocktail too many, officers tested the actor and determined his blood alcohol level was indeed above the legal limit.
TMZ further reports that Weatherly spent nearly 15 hours behind bars.
Last week, the L.A. City Attorney charged the actor with two counts of DUI, which carries a maximum sentence of a $1,000 fine and six months in the slammer (TMZ points out, however, that as a first-time offender Weatherly will likely receive no jail time).
“We’ve reached out to Weatherly for comment,”; adds TMZ. “So far, no word back.”;
