Eddie Redmayne will soon be seen in the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and the actor admits that joining J.K. Rowling’s cinematic pantheon of wizards is the fulfillment of a long-held dream.
As a young actor, explains Redmayne in an interview with ITV, he thought that his ginger hair would make him a shoe-in to play a member of the red-headed Weasley family — but it never happened.
“For years I was always like, in the Harry Potter films, there was a whole ginger family, and I never got an audition. And I was like, “Come on, it’s outrageous!’ So I was desperate. Every actor in England was in the Harry Potter films, but I never got the call. Now I’m having my moment.”;
Redmayne stars wizard Newt Scamanger in this prequel set 70 years before Harry Potter and his pals first set food in Hogwarts. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens November 2016 — here’s a sneak peek. On a mobile device? Watch here.
