When three former “Saturday Night Live” stars reunite, it’s only a matter of time before they start doing killer impressions of each other.
That was the case on Monday’s edition of “The Tonight Show” when host Jimmy Fallon welcomed his former “SNL” castmates Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen to promote their new Amazon Prime Video series “Forever”.
Rudolph gave herself “an E for effort” after debuting her impression of Fallon, admitting it was the first time she had ever done it while perfectly nailing Fallon’s excitement about, well, pretty much everything.
As Rudolph pointed out, Fallon doesn’t just enjoy a plate of lasagna like the average person, he has to rave about it being the “best lasagna ever! Unbelievable!”
Meanwhile, Fallon gave as good as he got with his quirky impression of Armisen — although he could barely get through it without cracking himself up.
The trio also imitated “Tonight Show” announcer Steve Higgins and then imitated what it would sound like if Sting sang such non-Sting songs as Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll” and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”.
Later in the interview, Rudolph and Armisen discussed their roles in “Forever”, which sees them playing a married couple whose decision to get out of their marital rut by going on a ski vacation yields unexpected consequences. Watch:
