It’s been a long time coming, but the gang’s all here for Entertainment Weekly‘s fall TV preview issue.
The hotly-anticipated revival of “Murphy Brown” lands the coveted cover spot with stars Candice Bergen, Faith Ford, Grant Shaud and Joe Regalbuto ready to take on fake news.
The revival talk first started back in 2012 when Sarah Palin started making headlines. Fast-forward to 2018 and it’s now become a reality that even has the cast members still in shock.
“It’s surprising to me,” says Regalbuto, who reprises his role as Frank Fontana. “Just before this became a reality, people started coming up and saying, ‘You guys should do your show.’ They would see these other revivals. And I would say, ‘Hmm.’ I knew it was a good idea.”
Bergen adds that audiences went wild for the return of Murphy Brown and co. during a sneak preview screening last month.
“They loved the show and were just desperately hungry for the other point of view,” she says.
This season, the “FYI” news team will take on Donald Trump and of course, still see Murphy battling a revolving door of secretaries when “Murphy Brown” returns this fall.
