It’s hard enough to maintain a relationship when you’re living in the spotlight, but when you add miles between you and your partner, keeping the spark alive is harder than ever.
This month, Julianne Hough — who got engaged to Canadian NHL player Brooks Laich in September — opens up to Cosmopolitan about keeping things saucy while she’s away from her beau. The singer and actress revealed that she still has to work on her phone sex skills. “I’m really bad at it…I’ll get halfway through and start laughing. It’s an art,” she told the mag. “I applaud people who are good at it. They need to come and help me keep a straight face!”

After first meeting in 2013, Hough immediately knew Laich was “the one,” she wrote in a blog post. The actress let Cosmo readers in on how a failed movie led her to the man of her dreams. “I did a horror movie that never got released. I’m convinced the only reason I was meant to do that movie was to meet my fiancé,” she said about meeting her fiancé through “Masters of Sex” star Teddy Sears. “Six years prior, Teddy Sears, my costar, tried to invite Brooks—who was a good friend of his—to visit him in L.A. Brooks, who knows nothing about pop culture, joked, “What are you going to do—hook me up with that Juicy Fruit starlet?’ He’d seen the commercial and was like, “Where do I meet a girl like that?’ I was the girl in the commercial! Teddy remembered that comment and texted Brooks, “You’re never going to guess who I’m doing a movie with.'”;
