5 Seconds Of Summer Go Retro With ‘Valentine’ Visuals

Everything old is new again.

5 Seconds of Summer celebrated Thursday, Sept. 13, with the release of a new music video for “Valentine”. The song is from their chart-topping third studio album Youngblood.

The trippy throwback visuals feature plenty of colour, floating heads, and skeletons. 5SOS’ Ashton Irwin directed the video.

“Collaboration has always been one of the key most important things about 5 Seconds Of Summer since Day 1 and co-directing the video with [photographer] Andy [DeLuca] was an incredible and very fluid experience,” Irwin said in a statement published by Rolling Stone.

“There are a few things we wanted to capture: the androgyny and the feminine element of the way Luke performs as well as the dark romance of the song,” Irwin added. “This video is us taking something into our own hands and attempting to be a part of every single detail of what we create.”

Youngblood was propelled by two singles: “Want You Back” and “Youngblood”.
