New details have been released regarding the death of Alan Jackson’s son-in-law, 28-year-old Samuel Benton Selecman.
According to the Miami Herald, Selecman fatally fell from a dock after attempting to help a passenger safely get on a boat.
After being hospitalized for more than a week, the young attorney died in hospital, suffering from traumatic injuries to his head.
Selecman married Jackson’s 28-year-old daughter Mattie in earlier this year.
“The District Attorney’s Office is saddened to announce the passing of Assistant DA Ben Selecman,” reads a statement from the DA’s office. “District Attorney Glenn Funk said the DA’s Office is thankful for every day that Ben had the opportunity to serve the people of Davidson County. Our prayers are with Ben’s family. He will be truly missed.”
In a separate statement, Funk said Selecman “was really a rising star and I’m sick that we lost him, but I’m grateful for every day that he worked for us because he was great.”
