Just over two months after getting engaged, there was speculation on Friday that Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin had tied the knot.
But, Baldwin put the rumours to rest, tweeting: “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet.”
Following Baldwin’s tweet, the couple were spotted holding hands while out in New York City together.
Earlier on Friday People reported the 24-year-old Canadian pop star and 21-year-old model wed unexpectedly on Thursday at the courthouse in New York City.
But – not so fast! A source told TMZ back in August that the couple intended to wait until sometime next year to get married.
Another source wrongly told People, “They went ahead and did it without listening to anyone.”
A religious source – who was misinformed it turns out – reportedly added that despite the couple’s whirlwind nuptials, they intend to throw a proper wedding celebration soon.
“As of now, they want a small ceremony with their families,” the source said. “They are not planning a huge, celebrity wedding. They are getting married for love and don’t want a flashy wedding.”
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the couple were seen “inside the Marriage Bureau in NYC” where their marriage licenses were being issued and Bieber told a court official who was reportedly a “judge,” “Thanks for keeping it on the DL.”
The outlet also claims that eye witnesses saw the singer crying inside the courthouse, where he told Baldwin, “I can’t wait to marry you, baby.”
As for the couple’s upcoming wedding ceremony, another source reportedly told TMZ that Bieber and Baldwin “were leaving the country.”
And a source told E! News, “They are doing a separate ceremony out of the country with a few family members soon as well.”
Bieber proposed to Baldwin on July 7 during a romantic getaway to the Bahamas and the couple have been living in New York City since.
