Lily Allen is opening up about the famous faces that helped her in life.
The “Smile” singer talks about her drug and alcohol addiction in a telling new memoir, My Thoughts Exactly.
Allen describes a “night straddling and writhing on Hollywood superstar Orlando Bloom in a drug-fuelled haze before smashing her head into his and knocking herself out cold,” according to The Sun.
Martin drove the English songstress home and left a note asking her to call him. “He and Gwyneth had just broken up, but they were together in L.A. doing their unconscious coupling thing,” she writes. “They asked me over for Sunday lunch.”
“I wasn’t very chatty with Chris, but he and Gwyneth did put me in touch with their marriage counsellor,” Allen continues. “I didn’t go, but it was the wake-up call I needed. I realized I was ill.”
“They’ve got this amazing garden that goes from the top of the cliff down to the sea,” she told The Guardian on Saturday. “Chris was so full of energy, he grabbed me and was like, ‘Come on! I want to take you for a walk.’ I was like, ‘OK.’ He’s very sweet for taking the time.”
It was this encounter with Martin and Paltrow that served as a changing point in her life.
“I was behaving in a way that was the opposite of being sexually liberated or free, I was trapped in a cycle. I was addicted to the drink and drugs I was consuming and the sex I was chasing,” Allen explains. “I felt like an object, a f***able thing that didn’t mean anything to anyone.”
