Another edition of the Toronto International Film Festival has come to a close. While the stars have departed and screens are dark today, there’s been plenty of online chatter about Hollywood’s best and brightest during the 11-day festival.
Twitter Canada tracked the top celebrities and films to come out of TIFF’s 43rd year, with Lady Gaga and Timothee Chalamet taking the crown as the most-tweeted-about actors during the festival.
Social media was alight with mentions of Lady Gaga in “A Star Is Born”, co-starring and directed by Bradley Cooper, who also find himself in the list of the top 10 stars of the fest. Joining them are Timothee Chalamet in the number 2 spot, along with his “Beautiful Boy” co-star Steve Carell. Also making the list are Robert Pattinson and Viola Davis, as well as Chris Pine, whose “Outlaw King” kicked off the festival, and Kristen Stewart, star of the closing-night selection “Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy”.
Some of this fall’s upcoming films with the most online buzz out of TIFF include “A Star Is Born” and “Beautiful Boy”, which both debuted to praise from audiences. The Pattinson space drama “High Life”, which earned mixed reviews, Nicole Kidman’s buzzy crime thriller “Destroyer”, and Steve McQueen’s ensemble heist drama “Widows” which earned raves for its performances from Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, and Michelle Rodriguez, also make the list.
