Lenny Kravitz is a famous musician but on the internet he may be best known for his eccentric choice in winter clothing.
In 2012, Kravitz was photographed on the streets of New York wearing an absolutely gigantic scarf. The image quickly went viral, inspiring tons of memes.
On Monday night, Kravitz appeared on “The Tonight Show” where host Jimmy Fallon simply had to ask about the photo.
“I cannot escape this, brother,” the singer said. “Look, I live in the Bahamas, I’m used to hot weather, you see. I had to go to the store, I was buying some groceries, and I thought I’d put on a little scarf.”
Fallon quickly pointed out that the scarf was far from “little.”
“Lenny, this is not a scarf,” he said. “This is a blanket.”
“The guy who made that scarf, you can blame that on, he made that scarf and he gave it to me,” Kravitz explained. “And that was the day I thought I would break it out. I had no idea that there would be paparazzi.”
Later in the interview, Kravitz talked about his habit of collecting objects from music history, like Paul McCartney’s original handwritten notes for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.
He also brought a harmonica given to him by Bob Dylan and explained, “The word is, if you play it, because his DNA is so strong, you will turn into him.”
Of course, Fallon had to put that theory to the test.
“Put your mouth on Bob Dylan,” Kravitz joked before Fallon played a few notes on the instrument and launched into his Dylan impression.
