James Corden goes to great lengths to impress Henry Golding’s on-screen mom Michelle Yeoh in a “Late Late Show” sketch.
The “Crazy Rich Asians” stars spoofed their box-office hit with the late-night host on Monday.
“She says the only way that I can get on the show is if you win her approval,” Golding tells Corden of Yeoh, who is in character as his super-intimidating mom.
“I love mums, mums love me,” Corden responds, gifting Yeoh a copy of his film “Peter Rabbit”. She promptly throws it in the garbage.
Drawing a page from “Crazy Rich Asians”, Yeoh says, “I want to make it clear to you — you’re never going to be good enough for our family. You’re not even good enough for your own family.”
After beating Yeoh at a game of Mahjong, which only angers her more, Corden delivers a powerful speech before storming off: “One day, he’s going to be on another late-night talk show and I want you to remember this and think of me and everything I sacrificed because, if I can’t have him as a guest on my show, then I don’t want any guest on my show.”
Of course, the sketch has a happy ending, with Golding saving the day for Corden.
