Author Diana Gabaldon thinks Sam Heughan should play the next James Bond.
Gabaldon, 66, made the comments while chatting with the Scotsman about the actor, who plays lead character Jamie Fraser in the TV series based on her books.
The writer said, “I have seen that Sam is being tipped for ‘James Bond’ and I think it would be great.
“Sam would do a fine job of it. There is always a lot of talk every time ‘James Bond’ changes so it’s anybody’s guess.”
“But I don’t think he would have to leave ‘Outlander’ to be James Bond because the ‘Bond’ movies are just that, they’re movies.
“’Outlander’ is a television show so it would just be a matter of scheduling.”
Gabaldon’s remarks didn’t go unnoticed by Heughan, as he posted on Twitter:
Gabaldon’s comments come after it was revealed Danny Boyle would no longer be directing “James Bond 25”.
The Hollywood Reporter has since said “Bond 25” will miss its Nov. 8, 2019, release date because of Boyle’s exit and may not hit theatres until late 2020.
