John Oliver knows how to keep a secret.
The host of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” proved that when he let slip that he and wife Kate Norley are proud parents of a second child — who arrived three months earlier!
Speaking with People while attending the 2018 Emmy Awards Governors Ball, the 41-year-old comedian dropped the baby bombshell when asked about where he’s planning to display his latest Emmy (this year saw Oliver win his third consecutive statue for Outstanding Variety Talk Series).
“I have no idea!” quipped Oliver. “We have a three-month-old, so as far away from the three-month-old as possible.”
Oliver and Norley, who wed in 2011, are already the parents of a two-and-a-half-year-old son. Discussing the couple’s new arrival, Oliver admitted he was “tired” but that being the father of two sons has been “the best” experience.
“It’s bewildering [and] exhausting juggling that and the show, but no, it’s the greatest,” Oliver told People.
While noting that his youngest “doesn’t do anything” these days other than “sleeping, s***ting and crying, in perfect rotation,” he revealed his oldest child is about to embark on a major milestone.
“He’s going to start preschool. It’s going to be incredible,” Oliver added, admitting he’s not sure how he’ll react to watching his little one heading off on his own.
“As a British person, I don’t really have a middle ground — it’s either no emotion at all or I’m collapsing in tears,” he quipped. “So it will probably be the second one.”
