Meghan Markle may have a starring role in the Queen’s upcoming documentary series, titled “Queen of the World”, but Kate Middleton will not play such a huge part.
According to People, Middleton, 36, was on maternity leave for a lot of the filming while she was expecting Prince Louis, who was born in April.
The Commonwealth is the theme of the documentary and Middleton was absent from a lot of the goings-on.
An insider on the documentary said: “Kate was largely out of action during the main filming. CHOGM [Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting] was a focal point and she was due to give birth any minute then.”
However, they did add: “There is film of events and receptions which she attended, so you do see her.”
The documentary is also set to feature Markle seeing her wedding dress for the very first time.
In the 40-second preview seen in the clip above, the duchess’ face lights up after seeing her entire bridal ensemble, touching the veil and delicately moving her hands over the embroidered flowers from each of the 53 countries in the Commonwealth.
“Fifty-three countries, oh my goodness,” she said in the video’s voice-over. “It’ll keep us busy.”
The “Queen of the World” is set to premiere on Sept. 25.
