Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the Muppets are here with a shot-for-shot remake of the “A Star Is Born” trailer.
The upcoming musical drama stars Bradley Cooper (who will also make his directorial debut with the film) and Lady Gaga, but now we’re getting to see what those roles would look liek if Kermit and Miss Piggy had been cast instead.
Kevin T. Porter, a writer, comedian, and podcaster, took the time to do a shot-for-shot remake of the original trailer.
Porter used footage from famous Muppet films including “Muppets Take Manhattan”, “The Muppet Movie”, “The Great Muppet Caper”, “Muppets Most Wanted” and the 2015 TV show, “The Muppets”.
“I haven’t seen the movie yet but like most of America, I fell in love with the trailer, especially the memes the trailer generated on Twitter,” Porter tells Entertainment Weekly about spending three days working on his masterpiece. “The only regret I have is that I wasn’t able to get a shot of Sam the Eagle as Sam Elliott.”
“Ultimately, I’m just gunning for a job on the next Muppets TV show,” he says. “I’d gladly be Miss Piggy’s personal assistant. I’m definitely more of a Kermit, not the least of which is [because of] owning and playing a banjo of my own and waving my arms and screaming uncontrollably when I get excited about something.”
Following its TIFF premiere earlier this month, the Muppet-less version of “A Star Is Born” will open in theatres on Oct. 4.
