“Modern Family” has developed a reputation for creatively costuming its characters in the sitcom’s annual Halloween episodes, and viewers can expect to see some outfits with a royal flair in season 10.
That’s because photos have emerged from the set in which Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) is costumed as Meghan Markle — complete with fascinator hat — while his ginger-haired husband Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) is sporting a Prince Harry outfit in carbon copies of the duds the couple wore when they appeared together at the annual Trooping the Colour event in London.
Meanwhile, Claire and Phil Dunphy (Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell) are outfitted as, respectively, a spider and a fly.
You can compare the “Modern Family” costumes to the royal originals (the Duchess of Sussex wore a pink Carolina Herrera outfit and matching Philip Treacy hat), seen here:
Meanwhile, with ABC yet to decide whether the 10th season of “Modern Family” will be its last, exec producer Christopher Lloyd revealed plans to kill off a “significant” character in an upcoming episode.
“We’re handling some bigger life events in this season,” Lloyd told Entertainment Weekly. “We do deal with a death, which is certainly a topic that families have to deal with, and on television, it’s not easy to do because that’s a heavy subject. But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it.”
According to Lloyd, the death of a “significant character on the series will be a moving event — and an event that has repercussions across several episodes.”
The 10th season of “Modern Family” debuts on Wednesday, Sept 26.
