‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’,’Pixels’ Top This Year’s Razzie Nominations

By Brent Furdyk.

While the Academy Award nominations are set to be announced tomorrow, the nominations for the Razzies have just been unveiled, with films such as Fifty Shades of Grey, Adam Sandler’s Pixels and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 topping the nominees for the year’s worst movies.

Like Oscar’s evil twin, the Golden Raspberry Awards — more typically known as the Razzies — have been heaping scorn upon Hollywood’s most awful films since 1980, with such legendary stinkers such as GigliBattlefield Earth and Catwoman sharing the dubious honour of winning the Worst Picture award over the years.

This year’s top nominees are Fifty Shades of Grey, PixelsJupiter Ascending and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, each of which earned six nominations. Coming up close behind is critically lambasted superhero flick Fantastic Four, with five noms.

Sylvester Stallone, who just took home a Golden Globe for Creed, earned a nomination for the Razzie Redeemer Award for moving from “all-time Razzie champ to 2015 award contender.”; Stallone will be competing alongside fellow redeemers Will Smith (Concussion), Elizabeth Banks (for directing Pitch Perfect 2) and director M. Night Shyamalan, who redeemed himself with The Visit after several flops.
