NBC has announced a big coup, having landed the first U.S. solo television interview with Amal Clooney.
NBC News’ Cynthia McFadden’s interview with the famed human rights attorney (better half of actor George Clooney) will air on Thursday’s edition of Nightly News With Lester Holt, with more from the interview airing on Friday morning’s Today.

While Clooney has appeared on news shows to speak about her various cases and at red carpet events where she’s accompanying her husband, this will be the first in-depth TV interview she’s ever given.
Clooney is currently lobbying Congress in hopes of getting the U.S. government to level sanctions against the government of the Maldives until they release a number of political prisoners, including former president and human rights activist Mohamed Nasheed, who is serving 13-year prison sentence has been deemed unlawful and politically motivated by the United Nations.
