“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”;
The famous words uttered by Clark Gable’s Rhett Butler in the 1939 classic, Gone With The Wind, are among the most recognizable in cinema. But now, the iconic scene is getting a gender-bent twist!
To kick off W Magazine’s “Casting Call”; web series, which sees A-list stars of today “audition”; for classic movies, actors like Bradley Cooper, Amy Schumer, and Cate Blanchett give their best go at the scene. However, it’s the female stars who tackle Gable’s character, while Scarlett O’Hara’s lines, made famous by Vivien Leigh, are delivered by the men.
While some stars opt to deliver their lines in a more conventional style, others take much more creative freedom; “I’m gonna read this now, where I’m talking, and then I see a really cute boy,”; jokes Kristen Wiig.
