Bill Cosby’s wife, Camille Cosby issues a scathing statement through her publicist on Tuesday following her husband’s sentencing to prison for between three to 10 years.
“We have learned and will now prove that Bill Cosby was denied his right to a fair trial because the DA of Montgomery County, Kevin Steele, used falsified evidence against him,” says the statement.
With the former actor now serving a three to 10 year sentence in prison, his wife is trying to cast doubt over the court proceedings.
“After being tipped off by a recent online publication that a tape-recording Mr. Steele played during trial was doctored, Mr. Cosby retained a forensic expert to conduct an audio authenticity analysis of the recording,” she continued, claiming that victim Andrea Constand’s mother “had surreptitiously and illegally made the recording… without [Cosby’s] knowledge or consent,” further claiming that making the recording in the first place “constituted a potential felony.”
She claims that not only was the recording made “illegally,” she also alleges it had been “doctored,” quoting a forensic expert hired to analyze the recording who claimed it “is not a true representation of the original content of conversation. Without question this is not an authentic recording.”
Adds Cosby: “At no time before of during trial did the DA disclose that the recording was inauthentic, much less that it had been falsified. After the media report surfaced on Sept. 12, Montgomery County detectives acknowledged to the defence team that they could not authenticate the recording and did not know who made the version of the recording played at trial.”
In response, Cosby said that her husband’s defence team “will be filing a motion seeking immediate relief for the prosecution’s use of this falsified evidence. The DA’s use of the falsified audio clip at trial is deeply prejudicial, yet it represents just one of many issues that resulted in the denial of Mr. Cosby’s right to a fair trial. These egregious injustices must be corrected.”
Meanwhile, Cosby’s publicist Andrew Wyatt also issued a statement, doubling down on Camille Cosby’s claims of falsified evidence while blasting the legal proceedings as “the most racist and sexist trial” in American history while characterizing the psychologists who testified against “The Cosby Show” star as “white women who make money off of accusing black men of being sexual predators.”
In addition, Wyatt also accuses attorney Gloria Allred of attempting “to extort $100 million from Dr. Cosby in 2014 and continues to produce racist and sexist publicity against him,” and slams reporting of the trial by “the racist and sexist mass media” for “attacking and denouncing Dr. Cosby.”
Wyatt then goes on to attack psychologist Kristen Dudley, DA Kevin Steele, Judge Steven O’Neill and his wife as “practitioner[s] of ‘Hateful, Racist Speech.'”
